Wish You Weren't My Mate, Alpha Bolin - Chapter 8: Robbed (2024)

I jumped up from the bench to someone shaking me by the shoulder. Standing before me was a strawberry-blonde female with streaks of gray hair at the front of her hair. She appeared to be in her late 50s.

Frightened by her, my heart raced, and I looked around to see that it was almost night.

How long was I unconscious? I brush a hand over my hair.

"Are you okay?" The strange lady's eyes carefully studied me.

Just as I was about to respond, I realized the envelope I'd hidden in my clothes was gone. I didn't feel it. Panicking, I searched the floor to see if it had fallen. There was sight of it on the ground.

"Have you seen a yellow envelope?" Quickly, I asked the strange lady.

She shook her head, knowing nothing about it.

Someone had stolen it when I was unconscious. Devastated, I sat on the bench and rested my head in my hands. I was now back where I had been, with nothing.

"I have nowhere to go, and the envelope that was stolen from me was the only cash I have," I wept to the strange lady.

"I'm sorry to hear." She sat next to me.

"I'm Cavia, and I may be able to help you with the dreadful situation you're in," she said.

I stopped to cry and looked at her, eager to know.

"Can you clean well?" she asked.

Focusing on her, I shook my head.

"Good then. I'm the head maid of a large home, and I can allow you to stay there while you work if you're good with the job. I'm heading back there now if you're interested in the job," she said as she rose to her feet.

Having nowhere to go and, worst of all, no cash, "I'll take the job," I desperately said as I stood.

"Follow me then," she said with a warm smile.

She stopped a cab.

"Get in," she said, opening the car door.

Not certain I should trust her, I hesitated before getting into the car. She then entered, sitting next to me.

"Take us to the biggest house here," she told the driver as she shut the door.

As the car drove off, I worried if I was doing the right thing by going off with a stranger for a job. It could be dangerous.

It was dark when we arrived. I stood at the gate, staring at a huge white house. It was the biggest house I'd seen. Cavia looked at me with a smile as I admired the building.

"How many rooms are here?" I asked, stunned, as we walked through the gate.

"Enough for 3 packs," she said, and my eyes widened.

We entered the house, and I spun around admiring the beauty of the hallways and my head raised, staring at the beautiful glass chandelier.

"Follow me to your room," said Cavia, and immediately, my attention went to her, and I followed her upstairs.

Cavia opened a door, and we went inside. I observed the decorative white room with a queen-sized bed, its furniture, and the flowy curtains that reminded me of the sunflower petal.

Cavia left the room and returned with a folded stack of clothes. Immediately, I went to help her.

"I hope they can fit you," she said as she gave them to me.

I nodded.

"There's a black and white maid dress in the stack of clothes with a white apron that you should wear as your uniform tomorrow morning to start your work at 5 p.m," said Cavia.

I nodded.

"You must be hungry. I'm going to make the chef prepare something for you," Cavia says, walking away.

I am not understanding her kindness towards me.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" I stop her.

"Because it's the right thing to do," she said with a smile.

I smiled back at her, and she hurriedly walked away.

Changing into a clean pair of nightwear after showering, Cavia brought my meal—beef stew, bread, and a cup of water. Haven't eaten in 2 days I wolfishly ate it down.

After I was through, I brought the plate downstairs.

The person who owns this house must be filthy rich. I climbed the stairs, returning to my room.

I lay in bed. It was the first time I'd experienced a comfy bed, and I closed my eyes with tears, wishing my first comfy bed was with my mate and not some rich stranger's home.

Though the bed was cozy enough for me to fall asleep, I couldn't; the thought of Alpha Bolin sharing a life with Addison that I should have had with him made it difficult to sleep.

I sat up and walked to the window to look at the moon.

"Why did you mate me with Alpha Bolin?" I said to the moon, sadly.
