McElhannon sisters, Geraldine Pickens enway of Greenville Christine Childs McElhannon, 84, of 201 Overbrook Street, wife of the late John B. McElhannon, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010. Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late James and Agnes Leslie Childs. Mrs. was the former owner of The Town House and The Chicken Burger Restaurants in Pickens and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Marie Nix and her husband, J.L. of Easley, Beverly Culbertson and her husband, Jim, and Joyce Norton and her husband, Randy, all of Pickens; five grandchildren, Jason Gravely, Matthew Culbertson, Corey Gravely, Dustin Gravely and Casey Tulk; seven great grandchildren, Tyler Gravely, Haden Gravely, Jordan Gravely, Zander Gravely, Jessica Gravely, Ainsleigh Gravely and Laken Gravely; two Annette Evon Lark Patterson Clinton Annette Evon Lark Patterson, age 69 of 217 Milam Rd. and the widow of Harry Patterson, Sr. died Friday at her home. Mrs.

Patterson was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Harry George Patterson, Jr. and wife, Frances; one daughter, Teresa Patterson English and husband, David; one brother, two sisters; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, at 3p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.

Air Force, was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and served as president of his home owners association. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Vogel. Sallie Jean Callaway Greenville Sallie Jean Buurman Callaway of Greenville, passed away April 23, 2010 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital after a period of deteriorating health with her children at her side. She was just 56 years old.

Sallie was preceded in death last year by her mother Jean Aljoe Buurman. She leaves behind her children Taurey Claire Callaway of Barnardsville, NC, Keefe Austin Callaway of Greenville, and Graham Thomas Callaway of Greenville. She is also survived by her father Dr. Clarence H. Buurman, two brothers, a sister, their spouses, nieces and nephews, and great-niece.

John Buurman and wife Pam of Charleston, WV, children Michael and Katie, and grand-niece Lilly. Robert Buurman and wife Lisa of Simpsonville, son Ryan. Carol Buurman Goodwin and Husband Myron of Franklin, TN, children Benjamin, Brandon, Lauren and Merrill. Born in Summit, NJ she moved from Warren, NJ to Greenville. She attended Eastside High School where she was a leading student, homecoming queen, Thespian, and cheerleader.

r. She matriculated at Furman University where she earned her BA, Summa Cum Laude in Art German. She went on to study Art History at various museums while traveling extensively in Europe, South Africa, and South America and achieved post graduate certificates also with honors in Art History and Languages at the Goethe Institute, in Goettingen, Germany as well as the University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria. Later in life she earned a Masters Degree in Education from Converse College, in Spartanburg, SC. She was a talented linguist and demonstrated instructional fluency and expertise across four distinct languages.

She was an observer and translator for international business, trade associations, and other concerns while living in Austria, and was a German, Spanish and English teacher at her alma mater, Eastside High School. She worked briefly as a curator at the Greenville County Museum of Art. She also taught nursery school arts in Wayland, Massachusetts. She was a very talented yet completely self taught painter and illustrator who had many commissions copying high priced art for various gallery customers while living in Massachusetts. As an amateur actress and musical performer she performed in community musical theater while living outside Boston, Mass.
