Stuart Maconie has just announced that Mark Radcliffe is back next weekend after his sabbatical. Hope he well and rested after his break. It will good to hear them back together.
Prefer Mark & Lard, they have reformed for a tour 20 years after splitting at the end of their R1 show, be great to get them back on the radio. Be good replacement for Frank Skinner if they wanted to move on form BBC which I doubt, can't see 6Music wanting them as a pairing sadly.
Riley is perfectly happy in his night time slot with Gid Coe....and Radcliffe with Maconie remains one of the highlights of UK radio.
You're not a 6 Music listener. Stick to Radio 23

You're not a 6 Music listener. Stick to Radio 2I'd agree with that. Mark and Lard were great in the late 90s/early 00s on R1, but I'm not sure expecting them to recapture the magic of 25 years ago is what either of them would want to so (them going on a theatre tour is very different to a national radio show).
Also, their style of show wouldn't fit 6 Music at all. If they were to come back it would have to be Radio 2.

Not really a fan of Mark R on R2 as not that into Folk so actually hear him on 6 rather than R2, but his R1 afternoon show is one of the best shows R1 has ever put out. A daytime lineup of Mayo, Mark & Lard and Moyles late 90s/early 00s takes some beating, just a shame it had a bland breakfast show during this period.

I think they could fit Absolute, Bauer has studios in Manchester. Give them the 1-4pm slot or Skinner's Sat AM slot if they don't fancy 5 days.

If bbc get the go ahead for the radio 1 and 2 extra channels I think Mark Radcliffe would well suit the radio 1 extra 1.its going to be a 00s throwback station mark and lard show was still quite relevant in the 00s.
Maybe even Chris moyles Colin and Edith too.i quite liked 00s radio 1.Options

Mark & Lard were on Vernon's Tracks of my Years recently and think it was much older stuff they choose, which would fit Absolute's music policy I think.

As has already been posted Marc Riley, who has been working at 6 Music since 2004, is perfectly happy working with Gideon Coe, anyone who listens to them realises this. They have free choice of music, play tracks from 4 BBC archive sessions each week on a daily basis, play a wide genre of music, have one or two live sessions with musicians often highlighting their current releases each week where they usually interview them as well, get plenty of feedback from their audience some of which is read out etc.
Same for Ratcliffe and Maconie, a show that dates back to 2007.
No idea why you think these shows should presumably end, Ben Burrell should be replaced on Absolute and "Mark and Lard" should return with a playlist they don't have full free choice in and a show will be interrupted by adverts.

See AlsoSchedule - BBC Programme IndexSome interesting scheduling coming up over the Glastonbury weekend. Friday/Saturday/Sunday they seem to be playing out the Annie Mac & Nick Grimshaw Sidetracked podcast at 6pm each evening, in between the live coverage from Worthy Farm. Then on Monday 1st July, the Morning Mix is scheduled to play between 5am - 7am, and 10am - 1pm, with a show reflecting on the festival between 7am - 10am.

I recall they had announced Monday July 1 as Mary Anne Hobbs presenting from 7am-1pm, so perhaps the last three hours will be pre-recorded with her doing links.
What I find interesting is that, for the first two weeks of July, the Artist in Residence slot will be filled with episodes of the American podcast Song Exploder -- surely the first time 6 Music had acquired outside programming since Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour?

It makes sense to do this kind of thing - I remember Radio 4 Extra running Radiolab episodes for a while. TV is full of imported content from other English-speaking countries and nobody bats an eyelid. If the content in this programme is relevant to the audience of 6 Music, why not?

Indeed, 4 Extra also aired This American Life and Serial for a while, too. Surprised this hasn't happened more often, but I suppose, there may be internal guidelines/guardrails to prevent BBC radio networks from relying too much on canned programmes.

Using R4X as a host for podcasts is the slippery slope to it being phased out altogether as podcasts can be listened to whenever and wherever you happen to be and do not rely on you being by a radio.

To be fair, Radiolab and This American Life started as radio shows long before podcasts became a thing.
Serial (which was initially produced by the This American Life team) was a podcast first, but its success was perhaps too irresistible for the BBC to not take notice.

Just checked the 6 Music website and there's 18 that have already been broadcast and are now available on demand. Hadn't noticed this before.

The individual episodes don't say they were aired on 6 Music. Maybe they were just on BBC Sounds?
The oldest episodes on the BBC website (and Sounds app) seem to have been uploaded last May, with the latest one just last Thursday.

matt everitt does a good job in the 'new album fix' show thurdays nights at 1am.
last night while i can't get no sleep he played some class new guitar stuff including interviews with bands.
think the show deserves an earlier broadcast time!
sure, it's available via bbc sounds on demand.
but i'm a fan of linear radio and love to listen to live radio; although i'm aware that the show is probably also pre-recorded.Options

Been some great selections on Kim Deal's Artist in residence shows this week, particularly enjoyed the mixtape for her father's memorial service.

I really enjoyed Cerys' show this morning. Some good music, Isabelle Campbell in session and a really interesting interview with Isabella Tree on her re-wilding project. I liked the subject matter and the fact it wasn't just the usual bored celebrity having to plug his/her new movie and not wanting to be there.

Anyone catch the now deleted post on Phil Jupitus' instagram yesterday morning? Something along the lines of "15 minutes late and still pissed, classy", I imagine referring to Craig Charles.
